The Launch of ATASA at 33 South

So, we did it! Alternative Travel Association SA had a relaxed launch at 33 South Backpackers in Observatory in Cape Town on the 26th July.
We would just like to welcome our newest members:
Buccaneers, Wicked Campers, River Lodge, Black Mamba, Little Brak Beach House, Wild Spirit, Hluhluwe Backpackers, Ashanti and The Cardboard Box to TheGuide.org.za and ATASA.
We really appreciate the support and things are moving in a very positive way.
If you don't know what on earth we are on about then please check out www.theguide.org.za and www.atasouthernafrica.com for details.
We had a few questions about how we fit in with BSA and if we are duplicating things, here is our answer.

We are happy to work with BSA/SAYTC in building the industry, most of our members are BSA members too. We would like to focus on internal marketing, new technologies and increasing the standards in general. We will work with other organisations and not against them. Our focus is at a grassroots level and we are happy to leave the international networking and government/tourism relations to SAYTC.
Creating a fantastic, diverse network is our main goal and we encourage all potential members to join an association to stay in the loop and help us create a sustainable industry.
We are not into the idea of grading but we do believe that your service should be of a high standard. If you have any questions please feel free to contact us.

That's it from us until next week and we hope you all benefit from the new ATASA website.
